Asurf Oluseyi

director / producer (NIGERIA)

Asurf Oluseyi is a Nigerian filmmaker known for blending emotional depth, cultural specificity, and bold, character-driven storytelling. A self-taught director, he gained international attention with Hakkunde, the indie breakout that became a model for grassroots distribution in Nigeria and earned multiple global accolades including AMAA and AFRIFF awards, plus recognition across Europe and North America.

He later produced Walking With Shadows for Oya Media, adapting Jude Dibia’s novel into a sensitive, performance-driven drama that premiered on Amazon Prime and reinforced his reputation for grounded, human storytelling.

Asurf’s most ambitious film, 3 Cold Dishes, is a Pan-African revenge thriller shot across five West African countries and executive produced by Burna Boy. The project has drawn interest from major festivals, distributors, and cultural institutions for its scale, cross-border collaboration, and powerful female-centered narrative, positioning him at the front of a new wave of African filmmakers redefining the continent’s cinematic landscape.

Recognized by platforms such as AMVCA, AMAA, PAFF, FESPACO, and festivals across Europe, Africa, and the Americas, Asurf continues to craft stories rooted in identity, migration, resilience, and the emotional terrain of African life, while pushing regional cinema toward a truly global arena.
