Giresse Kassonga

Giresse Kassonga is an award-winning Congolese producer working across fiction, documentary, and animation. Based in Kinshasa, he is known for guiding projects from development to delivery with a clear creative vision and a strong command of international production.

He began his career as an actor in theatre and television before moving behind the camera. In 2019, he co-produced AWA by Déborah Basa, a short film that won multiple festival awards across Africa and abroad and was later broadcast on Canal+. From 2020 to 2025, he co-produced the two season series Coloré, a Canadian Nigerian Congolese co production that aired on TV5Monde, RTO, and NIC.

Giresse has become a standout voice in documentary. His project Les Bilokos won the 2nd Filmac Prize and was selected for the DFM African Lab Showcase 2024 and the DFMI Business Lab 2025. His feature documentary Stéréoman earned another Filmac Prize and brought him into the prestigious Deental program at the Cannes Film Festival. He has also taken part in the Great Lakes Creative Producers Lab, the EFM Toolbox at the Berlinale, and the Africa Créations delegation invited by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.

In 2025, he joined the Eurodoc program with Stéréoman, further strengthening his position as a rising Central African producer shaping bold, globally relevant stories.
